Kestrel is a leading provider of renewable energy solutions for the local and global markets. Using wind power, solar power, or a combination of both, we provide opportunities to access electricity and water in areas where these resources are overpriced, unreliable or unavailable.
Since 2006, the Kestrel range of micro wind turbines has been designed and manufactured in our ISO-certified, world-class manufacturing facility, based in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. We manufacture according to various international recognised quality standards.
The Kestrel brand forms part of the broader Eveready group of companies. Benefiting from Eveready’s extensive and accredited engineering and manufacturing capacity, this product’s unique patented design has resulted in its global recognition and certification. The development of Kestrel’s micro wind turbines is also supported by Eveready’s extensive engineering, research and development, and testing facilities.
Kestrel Renewable Energy projects have been implemented globally. Recent international certification enables our customers to access various rebate and tariff reduction programs from systems installed by registered and accredited agents.
Kestrel offers full renewable energy solutions for household, agricultural, telecommunication, education, rural, and corporate applications. We design, manufacture, install and maintain these renewable energy solutions.
Our solutions integrate solar, wind, and other technologies to provide the power that meets our customers’ energy needs. We primarily use three main sources of power. This includes wind power (through our range of small wind turbines), solar power (through high-quality solar power panels), and hybrid power (a combination of our small wind turbines and solar power panels).
Every solution design requires a unique approach depending on the available renewable resources and existing power sources. At Kestrel, we pride ourselves on our ability to assess the available resources and provide an optimal turnkey solution that meets your needs.
Energy assessments are first conducted by our sales consultants to determine the correct combination of renewable energy technologies. Upon acceptance of the quote, Kestrel Renewable Energy’s turnkey solutions are then designed and installed by our experienced teams of engineers, electricians, and technicians.
The Kestrel water pumping solution is one of the latest, must-have farming tools in South Africa, delivering up to 3 600 litres of water per hour (head-dependant). It is a cost-effective and versatile option for pumping water in areas where grid electricity is unavailable or unstable, providing efficient water delivery from a wind speed of just 3m/s.
The Kestrel water pumping solution is powered by solar, wind, or a combination of both renewable sources. It uses the electricity generated by these renewable energy sources to deliver up to twice the water volume of a traditional mechanical windmill.
While mechanical windmills are placed directly above the well, in a design where wind is the preferred resource, the Kestrel water pumping system can be placed where the wind resource is maximised.
The Kestrel grid-connected solution allows customers to utilise the available renewable energy sources as well as the standard electrical grid while eliminating the expense of electricity storage devices.
Our grid-connected system powers homes, schools, and businesses with renewable energy during those periods when wind is available. Any excess electricity produced is then fed back into the grid.
When renewable resources are unavailable, electricity from the grid will supply the energy needed, thus eliminating the expense of electricity storage devices like batteries and increasing energy independence.
Where an electricity provider is unavailable or avoided, the Kestrel off-grid solution provides the ability to generate reliable power, reduce costs, and minimize inconvenience.
Our off-grid solution provides reliable power from the wind which is stored in batteries. The energy stored in the battery bank is used to provide electricity as and when it is required, even during periods of low generation.
The Kestrel off-grid system is recommended where national electricity supply is unavailable, unstable or too costly to connect to.
Kestrel’s telecommunications solution utilises a multiple power source hybrid system to create energy-efficient and autonomous telecommunication base stations.
The Kestrel Multiple Power Source Hybrid System uses unique technologies to maximise efficiency and output. Multiple power sources are advantageous, particularly in off-grid systems, as they increase reliability. Many telecommunications sites utilising this system have a zero-failure rating and are completely autonomous.
Kestrel’s success and experience in the telecommunications industry have made us the off-grid specialists of choice for reliability and low maintenance.
