The industry-leading company employs a state-of-the-art worm farming facility in Johannesburg, South Africa, using advanced production techniques to produce consistent and high-quality Vermicast.

About Earthworm Castings (Vermicast)

Put simply, earthworm castings refers to 100% pure and organic digested soil that African Night Crawler worms leave behind, which makes for nutrient-rich plant food that contains beneficial microbes that aid plant growth.

So why Vermicast and not other manures? Thanks to the mucus secretion from the worms, nitrogen is released slowly, making soil more absorbent, offering plants a more consistent supply of moisture, preventing soil from drying out. In addition, humic acid concentrations in earthworm castings promote plant nutrient absorption. Evidence also shows that Vermicast assists in the regeneration of soil, removing harmful heavy metals and toxins from the soil. In summary, worm castings represent the ultimate plant superfood.

Earthworks provides sustainable solutions to ensure a prosperous future for all.

Benefits Of Vermicast

  1. Organic Compost
Vermicast contains no harmful chemicals and does not need to be mixed with anything.
  2. Easily absorbed by plants
Unlike chemical fertilisers, worm castings are not easily flushed from the soil because of the worm mucus that it contains. Plants have longer to absorb the nutrients and get the maximum benefit.
  3. Micro Organisms
As the compost is passing through the body of the worms, it is enriched with bacteria and microbes. These help plants to become more disease-resistant and also repel some plant pests.
  4. Healthier plants
As the compost works on the plants and they become healthier the need for pesticides is reduced.
  5. Helps plants grow
Worm compost contains hormones that help the plants grow.
  6. Water retention
Worm Castings are a colloid and hold up to nine times their weight in water. This can make a huge difference when there is a dry spell. The water is held at an organic level so tends to evaporate slowly while still being available to the plants.
  7. Slow nutrition release
With worm castings, the nutrients are held in place and released slowly so that the plants receive what they need over a prolonged period
